Family-Friendly Policy Overview

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Superior shifted its entire workforce to a remote environment and has since implemented enhanced workforce flexibility. Today, more than 95% of employees work remotely full-time or manage a hybrid schedule, splitting their time between the office and at home. This approach provides employees with the support they need to work where and how they work best.

The Policy - Working Remotely

  • Flexibility. All People Leaders are encouraged to work with their teams to allow for workplace flexibility, which may include fully remote work or hybrid work arrangements, early or late start and end times for the work day, and shortened work weeks, such as 4 days per week.
  • Equipment. All employees receive the appropriate equipment to work from home, including a laptop, headset, docking station, mouse and keyboard, as well as additional equipment (such as an extra monitor) if needed.
  • Internet. All employees below the Manager level may be granted a stipend to cover home technology expenses, such as internet.

Talent Hubs. In partnership with parent company Centene Corp., Superior has introduced talent hubs for employees. With 8 talent hubs in 7 cities throughout Texas, these spaces provide open seating and modernized meeting rooms to encourage collaboration in the office, when and if needed.

The Impact

Employee engagement has directly been impacted by workplace flexibility. Based on survey feedback in June 2022 from 93% of our employees, Superior earned a 91% engagement index score, a 4-point increase from the previous survey in 2021. Additionally, more than 9 in 10 employees said they intend to stay at the company for at least the next 12 months.

Employee Feedback

“I’m excited and grateful for the hybrid work from home opportunity, especially with the high price in gasoline. It definitely helps my family financially, because it doesn’t cut into the increase I received at my last evaluation.”

“Working for Superior has exceeded my expectations for the way I can still help members with their health through the services we provide. It’s an amazing company offering such wonderful benefits for us as employees. Before Superior, my work robbed my family of many years of my quality time and with Superior this has been given back to my family.”

“This company has been such a blessing to work for, which includes the time off for me to enjoy family time. Also, I have a great manager and co-workers that are there for me when I have any questions. I’m looking forward to seeing my growth at this company.”

“I love and enjoy working for the company. It is very family-oriented and cares for its employees, especially with the company allowing us to work remotely. It’s truthfully the best job I have had.”

“We are dedicated to providing more flexibility for employees as they balance their responsibilities at home and in the workplace. Supporting our employees also has a direct impact on the 1.7 million members we serve and is one of the reasons we’ve been able to provide quality care for more than 20 years to individuals and communities across Texas”
